Marco’s sermon from this last Sunday is a key one for grasping the current prophetic season the Hope Rock elders and deacons believe our church is entering and knowing where we are going. Highly recommended!
Prophetic words over Hope Rock Church in the past have seemed to always highlight a role of doing things differently.
Marco looks at Numbers 13 and contrasts a "two-spy" attitude (Joshua and Caleb) with a "ten-spy" attitude (the other scouts): The two spies saw the promised land with faith, focusing on God's promises and possibilities despite the giants; while the ten spies fixated on obstacles, spread fear, and ultimately prevented their generation from entering the promised land.
In the Kingdom, we want to adopt a "two-spy" mentality that embraces challenges with confidence in God's provision rather than the "ten-spy" mentality that catastrophizes difficulties.
This is especially in light of possibly planting a campus in Spicewood, despite conventional “church-growth” wisdom that claims we need to have all of our resources in place.
We cannot have any other attitude except a “two-spy” conquering one for the present season, or we, like the ten, will perish!
Key moment:
“If what God calls us to is doable in our own strength, I want to tell you friends, it’s a good idea, it’s not a God idea. When God calls us to do something, it requires faith. It requires dependence. And it has to require divine intervention.
“Why? Because then when it does come to fulfillment, there is nobody here that can say, ‘look what we did’. Jesus is the only one that gets the glory because it's his kingdom that we're building. And in fact, he's building it. We just get to partner with him in it.”
